![]() ![]() Melanie not only considered my headaches, but took a complete holistic view of my lifestyle, habits, work situation, posture, sleeping etc etc. As soon as I had my first appointment with Melanie I had the feeling I was in the right spot. Sincerely Gabrielle BĪfter 4 - 5 years of constant facial pain/head aches as well as $$$$ spent on on the process of elimination merry-go-round with Dentist, ENT, Neurologist, Watson Technique specialist physio, Chiro and the list goes on I finally came across Melbourne TMJ Centre. Thank you and bless you Surbhi and Chris □♥️ My quality of life is better for knowing you both. The take home exercises in video format are sensational. The customer service is exceptional and I highly recommend this clinic to anyone with chronic/acute symptoms and related disorders to see the clinicians at this facility. I have over 21 years of chronic neck and back pain including moderately severe TMJ pain causing dislocations of the joint ( by dentists ) and on occasion whilst eating due to my Hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome.I highly recommend this clinic for their up to date standards of practice and knowledge in their chosen specialty and all staff are incredibly knowledgeable, patient and explain things simply and slowly especially with me as I am deaf. Both practitioners are extremely thorough and have been very gentle with me. I have been a patient here for many years first seeing Surbhi then Chris when Surbhi went on maternity leave. I simply can not recommend her highly enough! THANK YOU MELANIE! Reception staff are amazing as well - Ruth, Rebecca, Louise, and Charlie thank you for always being so welcoming! I can now see my way out and Melanie has been a HUGE part of this. For months I was unsure when I could return to work, drive, help out at home, engage in social activities, and get back to exercising. After so much searching I am now seeing results - my neck stiffness and pain and accompanying headaches are reducing, and I'm feeling more and more like my old self. Her treatment is very precise, and whenever I have visited her I have had great relief! She's given me a detailed program of exercises and self-massage to do between visits that deal with the neck and jaw, but also underlying problems elsewhere that have been impacting them. She takes into account how you are feeling psychologically as well, and is particularly understanding and empathetic. Melanie's knowledge is comprehensive, and she is extremely thorough in her investigations of what is happening. I came across Melbourne TMJ & Facial Pain Centre and saw the reviews for Melanie and thought she'd be a great fit. I had a number of scans and tests done, and saw multiple physios at other clinics, as well as other types of practitioners. I've had dizziness and then from the resulting stress started jaw clenching (which has produced facial pain and ear issues - ear fullness, popping, tinnitus). Melanie Tam at Melbourne TMJ & Facial Pain Centre/More Than Physio has been amazing! Since early December 2022 I have had severe neck stiffness and accompanying headaches. If you are suffering any type of facial pain, call for an appointment today and we will do our best to fit you in ASAP. ![]() A common example is unrelenting face pain that is a result of a dental nature requiring emergency endodontic treatment. These factors often involve poor postures both during the day – such as work posture, work place set up as well as during the night – such as sleeping postures – a very overlooked cause.Įqually as important, is that we have the clinical experience and expertise to identify when the facial pain is NOT coming from musculoskeletal structures and requires onward referral for other intervention. Treatment of facial pain related to musculo-skeletal causes, not only involves treating the structures which are the source of the pain, but also addressing causative factors involved in those structures becoming painful and pain producing in the first place. Fortunately, there is now increasing recognition by Medical and Dental Specialists of the effectiveness of very specific Physiotherapy / Osteopathy techniques in the treatment of musculoskeletal related facial pain and we are seeing many patients referred for this type of intervention. Once facial pain has been ruled out as coming from a dental, sinus or nerve related cause, patients often continue in pain without resolution of their symptoms. ![]() Structures such as muscles, joints, nerves, teeth and sinuses are sources of facial pain. Facial pain can be caused by a number of structures and can often go unresolved as the source of the pain is often unidentified or poorly managed. Facial pain can be confronting, distracting and hamper your ability to function normally. ![]()
